Ramona Hessenius

Ramona L. Hessenius, 72, of Des Moines passed away on Monday May 26 at Senior Suites in Urbandale after a brief illness.  She was the daughter of the late Anthony J. (Tony) and Mary Mihalovich of Des Moines.  Ramona worked for over 40 years as a registered nurse in Des Moines after graduating from St. Joseph Academy and Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines.   
Ramona is survived by her husband Alan Hessenius of Des Moines, her brother Dan Mihalovich (Barb) of Tucson Arizona, and daughters Paula Myhre (David) of St. Charles Illinois and Laura Malloy (Dennis) of Barrington, New Hampshire.  She also leaves behind grandchildren Joseph  and William Myhre of St. Charles, Illinois and two nieces, Jennifer Mihalovich  and Melissa Linsday (Jason) of Chandler, Arizona.  
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, also at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Ramona’s memory.

Ramona & I attended Visitation, SJA and Mercy together. Last time we visited on phone was about a Mercy reunion that unfortunately she could not attend. We shared some childhood memories and she told me of her brother Dan and how proud she was of him.
