Donella Louise Jackson, 62, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Broadlawns Medical Center. She was born May 31, 1951 to John Eubanks, Sr. and Dorothy Bryson Eubanks in Des Moines, Iowa.

Donella accepted Christ at an early age, she was a member of Kyles AME Zion Church. She was educated in the Des Moines Public School System and graduated from Des Moines Tech High School and DMACC with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development. Her love for her children led her in the career path to become a pre school teacher with Homes of Oakridge, Child Care Center. She later opened her own daycare center.

Donella was a very loving nurturing, out spoken person. She was the keeper of the family. Donella took care of everyone and their children. She was know effectively as “Grandma” or “Mom” to many. There was not a child from the eastside to the westside that did not grace her doors, either for a hot plate, a place to stay or for some motherly advice. Most of the time it was to keep someone else’s children, but she would do it at the drop of a dime. She welcomed everyone with open arms. Donella enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and spending time with her family they were her life.

Donnella leaves to cherish her love: children, Don Terrill (Brenda) Calaway, Kyle Calaway, Sean Calaway, Norman Calaway Jr., Darrell (Christina) Jackson Jr., Dara (John) Jackson, and Montique Jackson; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, John Eubanks Jr.; sisters, Billie (Kenneth) Miller, Sharon (Sam) Billingsley, Vickie Eubanks, Lucinda Hopkins, Jackie (George) Williams, Normah Eubanks, Elizabeth Reid, Janean Doolin, Rolonda Doolin, and Donita (Brian) Webb; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

Waiting to welcome our mother home were her parents; husband, Darrell Eugene Jackson, Sr. in 2001; daughter, Deondra Beth; and sister, Debbie Dove; and nephew, Troy.
