Karen Jean McDowell, 67, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014. She was born October 7, 1946. She loved camping with her family. Karen and her mother spent a lot of time together; they were sidekicks! She loved playing games and loved spending time with her family.
Karen is survived by her mother, Betty Jean Wilson; children, David (Khristal) McDowell and Tammy (Dawn) Clark-McDowell; and granddaughters, Nicole and Kayla McDowell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; father, Darrell Wilson Sr.; and brother, Darrell Wilson Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in Karen’s memory.

Aunt Karen,
I'm sorry to see you go and leave behind the one's you love the most. We have had a lot of loss in our family lately and I really believe you and Uncle Jim and Joyce and Joann are together and everyone is at peace.. It is the one's left behind who have to figure a way of dealing with your loss. Go with God, Amen!
