Matthew Ernest Fiori was born May 21, 1930 in Granger, Iowa, the son of Sesto and Elizabeth (Lamberti) Fiori. His parents immigrated from Italy, bringing their six sons and six daughters to America. Matt was raised in the Granger Homesteads with brothers: Ray, Gino, Leo, Dominic and Pete; and sisters: Mary, Lucy, Lilly, Clara, Bea and Rosie. Matt proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and worked as a farm equipment salesman for many years. He was married for 43 years to his loving wife, Madge and from their marriage six daughters were born. Matt loved his family and was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Matthew passed away Friday, May 23, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Dallas Center due to complications of cancer with his family by his side.

He is survived by his loving daughters: Jo Beth Fiori, Laura (Jeff) Hakes, Brenda Fiori, and Elizabeth Buck, all of Dallas Center and Linda Buckalew of Urbandale; grandchildren: Joshua (Niki) Hakes, Kevin Buckalew, Kendall Buckalew, Jacob Biwer, and Jessica Fiori; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Nolan Hakes; siblings: Pete Fiori of San Francisco, CA, Beatrice Baggotti of Madrid, IA, Clara Vanni of Des Moines, and Rose Flynn of Kansas; son-in-law, Jim Biwer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madge; daughter, Cynthia; and seven siblings.

Graveside service will take place on May 31, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center, Iowa.
