Vesta M. Sankey, 93, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Urbandale, passed away peacefully at Mill Pond Retirement Center in Ankeny on Sunday, May 18th.
Vesta was a devoted wife and mother to Harold and their five boys. She spent her retirement volunteering for the National Park Service in Yellowstone and spending time with her family.
Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, of 73 years, Harold. She is survived by five sons, Steve (Karen), Rich (Joann), Dan (Kathy), Scott (Jody), and Marty (Julie); nine grandchildren, Matt (Christy), Kris, Megan Anderson (Rockford), Jonathan (Mary), Nick, Eric, Mitchell, Kayla, and Michael; and four great-grandchildren, Bella, Lilly, Jacob, and Camille.
A private celebration of Vesta’s life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Mill Pond for their wonderful care and support during this difficult time.
