Norma I. Schwerdtfeger

Norma I. Schwerdtfeger, 79, passed away May 17, 2014 at her home.

She was born May 26, 1934 in Renwick, Iowa to Scott A. and Rella I. Mitchell. Norma worked as a RN at Iowa Lutheran Hospital for 20 years. Norma was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed volunteering at Door of Faith Mission, Hope Ministries and at her Church. She loved being with her family. She especially loved her cat, Baby.

Norma is survived by her sisters, Louise Stansbery of New Hampton, and Judith Lewison of Marshalltown; nephews, Scott B. Mitchell (Elizabeth) of Bondurant and Duane Stansbery (Scarlet) of Mason City, Roger Stansbery of New Hampton, James Lewison of Columbus, Ohio; her nieces, Barb Lewison of Des Moines, Linda Munoz (Pablo) of Sioux City, Karen Petering of Harrisburg, MO.; many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husbands, Robert Walker and Marvin H. Schwerdtfeger; her brother, James F. Mitchell

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, Des Moines at 2pm Thursday. May 22, 2014. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the Church. Burial will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
