Sandy L. Vaughn, 74, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was born August 31, 1939 to Wilma and Melvin Van Dyke in Des Moines, Iowa.
She loved her family; they were the most important thing in her life. She cherished her family, friends, and pets. Sandy was very active in the Does #25 located in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harry N. “Bucky” Vaughn, her children: Kent Vaughn, and Kelly (Lesia) Vaughn; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bud (Carol) Van Dyke and his family; and many other loving friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her son Kevin R. Vaughn; and her parents.
Family will greet friends from 5p.m to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at 9 a.m, on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Sandra.

Im deeply sadden to hear a good friend lost such a good wife. I didnt know her well but if she was the women Bucky said she was and bragged about. The world is at a great loss. Too one of the best familys I had the privilege to meet. Im deeply sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bucky and the boys in this very difficult time. I have great memories of Sandy laughing and full of life, during our summer visits to Des Moines when I was a child.
I know Sandy was loved so much by her family, and she in return loved them back tenfold. Hopefully this will give some peace and light to the situation.

Dear Bucky, I was shocked when Jeff called me with this news! I cannot put into words how sorry I am for you and your family! You have sure had more than your share of trials in this life! No more for Sandy, now she is with your Kevin and her Mom & Dad! You will see her again one day! No words can heal your heart, but hopefully the love you shared will be all that you need to get you through this!! Some people never know that LOVE!! You are heavy on my heart and in my prayers!! I owe you both for the love you showed to my son for so many years!! You have been such a wonderful friend and father figure to Jeff at times when he really needed one!
