Warren Duane Stump was born January 29, 1927 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, the son of Allen Stump and Helen Griffin. He served his country in the US Army and dedicated his life to law enforcement for 35 years. He was employed by the State of Iowa, Department of Criminal Investigation and was the US Marshal by Presidential appointment. Warren was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church, Peace Officer Retirement, Iowa State Sheriffs and Deputies Association, and a 50 year member of Southgate Masonic Lodge. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing and golf. Warren passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Parkridge Nursing Home in Pleasant Hill at the age of 87.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, also at the funeral home, with burial at Altoona Cemetery.

Warren is survived by his daughter, Janice (Craig) Matzke; brother, Layton Stump; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Whitacre and Steven Matzke; brother in law, Ken (Deb) Pickering; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Teresa Stump.
