Leota Austin

Leota Arlene Austin, 87, passed way Friday, May 9, 2014, at home in Des Moines.

Leota was born September 2, 1926, in Defiance, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Grace (Goodwin) Carter. She is survived by her son, Steven Austin; daughter, Laura Fairman; daughter, Diane (Dan) Folkers; brother, Merlin (Arlene) Carter; grandchildren: Angel (Chris) Hesseltine, Terri Storm (Bryan Baldwin), Steve (Jennifer) Austin Jr., Shawna (Vince) Madonia, Dustin Folkers, and Brandi (Eddie) Fairman-Dittmer; eleven great-grandchildren: Ryan, Amanda, LeeAnne, Stephen, Blake, Tori, Ashleigh, Amora, Serenity, Joey, and Elijah; and one great-great-granddaughter, Izabella Leesue.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Beal Austin; daughter in law, Linda Austin; son in law, Jeff Fairman; and granddaughter, April Fairman.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, also at the funeral home. Interment is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
