James Allen Boswell, 55, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 2110 W 1st St, Ankeny, Iowa followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation will be Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Jim was born December 12, 1958 to Patricia and William Boswell in Omaha, NE. Most important to Jim were God and family. He was known for his caring heart and sense of humor. He spent 25 years working with TruGreen Chemlawn. Jim loved all aspects of his job. He took great pride in his lawn and wanted all others to enjoy the same beautiful landscape. He was an avid sportsfan, especially his New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and Notre Dame Football. He also enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, and traveling with his wife.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Dawn; his sons: James (Rachel), Joe (Tara) and granddaughter, Elise, and Justin (Jenna) and grandson, Grayson; father, William; and brother, Randy. Jim shared a very special relationship with his mother-in-law, Lillian and his grandchildren were the great joys of his life. He was welcomed home by his mother, Patricia, brother, Bob and father-in-law, Walter F. Johnson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Jim.

So very sorry to hear this news. Our condolences to Dawn and family. How sad for such a great man to leave us. I always felt Jim was a leader wherever he was. I do thank God that he is now leading Jim and his pain is gone. He has left a legacy that we will always remember. Dawn, you are such a strong woman that was always by Jim's side and comforted him. He couldn't have been a luckier man to have such a great family. We will truly miss him. We will pray for your family.

Jim's death really took us by surprise. We have known the Boswell family for many years. We remember their first restaurant on Forest Ave. Jim, Randy and Bob built our fence and outside storage shed in 1981. Such great memories of the family through the years. So sorry to hear the loss of Jim and our thoughts go out to Dawn and the children.

Dawn and family, we share your grief and pray that God gives you the strength and understanding to begin healing your hearts. It was easy to be a good friend of Jim's because he was such a kind and caring soul. He was loved and admired by the whole community he grew up and lived in. He will be eternally missed.

RIP Jim Boswell! You are no longer in pain and suffering...your mind and body are anew. Jim will be forever a very dear; life long friend. Heaven has received an AWESOME Man for our guardian angel! Dawn and family-- So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. My fondest memories from childhood had the "BOZ" in it. His contagious smile and personality drew everyone near. As I read Kent and Mary Reed's condolence, referencing greatest legacy.......I can only smile knowing that the "Boz" left with his heart filled with love and pride! God bless you my friend.

Jim, I really don't know where to start. You definitely left this world, your family, the many, many friends that love, & respect we all have for you. I can think of so many find memories, I have of the time we spent together, the concerts we attended, hanging out at your mom, dad's house, Sport Time Foosball, & all the times we your friends spent together, where you were always the life of the party, doing something to entertain all that were there, & also with your amazing sense of humor, where all laughed, except you. You could have the worst day going, but you had a way of making everything seem like what was bothering you wasn't so bad.
You loved your family, friends, & the customers that came into the family restaurant. You made this world a much better place, were a great friend to so many. My only regret is as we move on in our life's we loose track of each other, & that's a sad fact.
You don't have to endure the pain, & suffering any longer, we will all miss you so much, but we will meet again my friend!!
I want to send my condolences to your family, that have heavy hearts, & are struggling to understand why you are gone. We all know you will be looking down on us all, & making some comment, but won't even smile. Love ya buddy, thanks for being a friend.

Dawn and family I'm so sorry to hear about Jim's passing even though I only knew Jim from East I have fond memories of him from there. May god grant you all piece of mind and comfort to your hearts.
