Service Details
John Edward (Saunders) Hayner, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital. He was born October 6, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harry and LaRue Saunders.
John enjoyed going to gamble at Prairie Meadows Casino and playing cards with his friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Hayner; son, John Hayner, Jr.; step-daughters, Candy Miller, and Millie (Randy) Thompson; step-sons, Michial Thompson, and David Thompson; grandson, Zane; step-granddaughters, Katie, Sara, Misty, and Leah; step-grandsons, Randy Jr., Mikie, Sean, and Joseph; sister, Betty (John) Loveless; nieces, Teresa (Mike) Rettig, and Becky (Cliff) Hawn; great-nieces, Shannon, Macy, Lexie, Megan, and Kaeli; and great-nephew, Nathan.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosy (Hanson) Hayner, and second wife, Tammy (Miller) Hayner; parents, Harry Saunders and LaRue (Saunders) Hayner; and step-father, Donald Hayner.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with visitation 1 hour prior to services.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of John.

Wow just found out this is so sad known you since the kids were little on 9th but I know you are in good hands with God no pain no suffering . You and Rosie are forever with me in my heart you two were like family to me RIP my friend till we meet again...

Hey there john. I really miss my friend. You have always been there for me. And I cant thank you enough for helping me.
You are the most kindest person I've ever meet.
I've known you all my life an never did you ever turn ur back to me. You have always listen to me and gave me advice to follow.
Thank you for always being there.
John will you do me a favor tell my mom and dad hi and that I miss them. And tell patty hi, and rose, an also my dear friend tammy, tell everyone I miss them.
To my buddy you will always be greatly missed

Omg john having a real hard time dealing with the fact that u r gone wish I could just pick up the phone n hear ur voice n see how u r I just keep it all on the inside dont let it show on the outside still it doesn't seem real that ur gone it seems like a bad nightmare yet luv u miss u R.I.P. JOHN

dad i really miss u.. i still cant believe tht u r gone!!! it still feels like ur still here!! tell mom tht i said hi nd i miss her nd love her!! u was a good father to us kids!! us kids will have to help each other to get threw it!! millie,jj,betty, nd candy i am here for u guys if u need to talk to some one!! i love u guys!!!!

I have known John for 20 + years. John and Tammy were both very good friends to me and my family for all this time. For many years now we only saw each other on occasion but everytime it was like were saw each other daily. John was a kind, and loving person with a heart big enough for everyone who came across his path. I just saw John a few months ago and he told me of the stress he had been dealing with but assured me it was all going to be fine. We talked about how God worked in mysterious ways and how God is always in control if we put our trust in Him He would work it out. I think we talked for an hour in the parking lot of walmart. I am very sad at the loss of my dear friend and wish more than anything I could be there to say so long for now until I see him the next time but this time it will be in glory. I send my prayers and love to each of the kids and the family members who are missing him right now. I will love and miss you forever John.
