Roy H. Shaffer

Roy H. Shaffer of Altoona passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after a short bout with cancer.

Roy was born November 20, 1942 to Roy and Bonnie Shaffer in Pleasantville, Iowa.

Roy was a very thoughtful and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He spent a great deal of time during his retirement years with his grandchildren, thoroughly enjoying all of them. Roy loved nature and everything outdoors. He spent many hours in his yard growing beautiful flowers and vegetables. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Roy leaves behind his wife, Kathi; daughters, Stephani (Mauricio) and Heidi (Robert); eight grandchildren; his dear friend, Shirley Parkins; and his cat, Clara.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth.

According to Roy’s wishes, no services will be held. Private burial of cremated remains will occur at a later date.
