Bert E. Johnson, Jr., 55, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2014.

Bert was born August 4, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Bert E. Johnson, Sr., and Shirley Jean Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Lana Peterson; children, Bert Knapp (Sarah), Tammy Kirkpatrick, Gabriel Johnson, and Jeremy Leeper Peterson; grandchildren, Adrian, Alea, Lucas, and Baby Bert on the way; father, Bert E. Johnson, Sr. (Gloria); siblings, Vicki Hofer (Bob), Pam Johnson, Clarence Thompson, Ralph Johnson, and Claressa Button (Gary); five step-brothers; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2014, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Lee Town Assembly Church, 2720 State Avenue, Des Moines. Burial will be at a later date at Woodland Cemetery.
