Service Details

Donald Dean Norris entered eternal life on Saturday, April 26, 2014.

His spirit is carried on by one surviving sibling, three surviving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family of relations and friends of all walks of life. He is welcomed in Heaven by his wife and daughter who precede him in death.

Don was born October 16, 1921 in Leon, Iowa. He was a boxer and medic in the Army and a union worker by trade. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Don in his 92 years among us. Don never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He would always say they were "poor souls that needed to be prayed for". Don was a man of many talents, whether it is was fixing your car, planting vegetables and maintaining the yard, or just teaching you the ways of the Lord.

After stumbling in life and catching his balance, he grew older, wiser, and became a picture of graciousness. He was hard working and tender, but yet strong. He lived in Godly righteousness, but yet was merciful and forgiving. He knew his Bible as well as anybody. The Word of God was hidden in his heart. He quoted Scriptures at every opportunity and made sure Scripture verses adorned every room in the house, inside and out. Don was the beacon of oppressed people, a light to those who were lost and dwelling in the darkness. It was better than any Motel 6 because his light was always on, with no charge. Don was an optimist and believed that no matter how far you strayed, your soul could be saved.
