Gary R. Hough, 60, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at his home in Des Moines surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born August 1, 1953 in Signal Hill, California, the son of Athol and Delores Hough. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and liked watching Jeff Gordon and NASCAR.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Scott) Leach; son, Travis (Savana) Hough; daughter, Barbie (Alvin) Hall; daughter, Debbie Hough; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; father, Athol Hough; sisters, Karilyn Rothe and Cheri (Mark) Gehrke; brothers, Harlan (Brenda) Hough and Doug (Michele) Andrews; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Andrews and son, Gary.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 2, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014.

Travis, Shannon, & families -
I won't be able to attend the visitation or funeral but my thoughts are with you and your families. While this is a difficult time, please remember he is at peace now, no longer in pain, no longer suffering. Time doesn't make the loss gone, but it does help lesson the burden.

Thinking of you all in this time of sorrow and heart break. Just know that I am here for you whatever you need, I love ya kids Travis, Savana and family. I know he loved all his family and it is a large and blessed family to have had him in your lives.

Dad... this doesn't feel real! I love u so much and miss every minute of the day. Seeing ur empty room is heartbreaking. I will always cherish our memories we created. I love you.. say hi to lil Gary for me... miss u!

Travis, Shannon:I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Gary was such a nice person..he often did sweet things like bring me lunch. He definately made working at the Post Office less boring. Prayers to you and family.
