Just finding out about this. Lola will truly be missed. I have bought several baby and bridal shower cakes from her. Everybody would say get a cake from Lovejoy's they are so good. I remember stopping in the shop to get a donut to eat on the way to work. Even when I didn't need one. I know her health was getting bad but now she can rest in peace with Bob. Very very sweet couple. They both will be missed.

Lola was such a great lady. I graduated from Carlisle and remember her bake shop well. I was one of the many brides that were blessed to have her do the cake. She was always smiling. I always visited her shop when I returned to Carlisle, for those cupcakes. Those mouthwatering cakes and cookies. I also had the privilage of being one of her husband's nurses during his hospitalizations. She was a strong lady that could handle whatever was tossed her way. God bless her and her new journey.

Dear Lovejoy family -- I moved to Indianola about 15 years ago and got hooked on lovejoys cake at a wedding right after that! I met Lola shortly after when we ordered a cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. My daughter turned 13 this year and this was her first birthday without one -- Lola was in retirement in her home and was still making a cake for my daughter for her birthday :) she knew how happy it made her AND all of us as it was our excuse to "splurge" on the BEST cake ever. My 8 year old son also joined in the fun so we could have our "excuse" to have at least 2 cakes a year! lola was so kind to continue to make my kids birthday cakes even after she was in retirement mode in her home...on my last visit to her in January of 2013 she said, "okay now barb, I REALLY have to retire this time...my kids are insisting so this will be your last cake..." :) And she gave me a few tips on how I might try to make better cakes at home, AS IF I could make anything as good!! :) she was very kind to me and obviously worked very hard and I hope you all are filled with wonderful memories of her!!!!!!!

So sad to hear of Lola's passing. She made our wedding cake and several after that for just about any excuse I could come up with! Just walking into her shop was the best! She was always there to greet you with a smile. I hope her family finds peace in knowing she made so many happy and was loved by all.

Aubrey enjoyed working with Lola on many weddings. He thought she was one sweet lady. Aubrey and Lola decorated many wedding cakes together through the years. She with her baking and decorating and Aubrey with flowers. She made brides so happy with her talents.

Lola was an amazing woman, and we are so glad our paths crossed on many occasions. As wedding vendors, we always like to connect with others in the industry but Lola also watched our family grow by baking our wedding cake, our baby shower cakes and first birthdays... She was fun to sit and talk with and swap bridal stories... There's a big hole left in the Carlisle business community.

Dear Lovejoy Family - Our hearts go out to you as you struggle through your loss. Your Mom, Dad, and all of you, through the business put Carlisle on the map for many, many brides over the years. It tickled me to say I was from Carlisle and folks would say "Oh I love Lovejoy's". We all did too, but not just for the cakes. May that love lift you now and in your days ahead.

I am so sorry to hear of Lola's death. My husband and I were fortunate to have a wedding cake from Lovejoy's 24 years ago. And I bought a number of small anniversary cakes from Lola over the years when she moved the bakery to her home. It was always a pleasure to see her. And an equal pleasure to savor her delicious cake. I can taste the moist white cake and buttercream frosting now. My deepest condolences to the Lovejoy family. May it give you comfort to know how much joy she brought to others through her wonderful culinary talents.
