Michael J. Harden, 51, was born October 19, 1962, and passed away April 8, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines following injuries sustained from a collision with his motorcycle.
Mike was the first of 4 boys born to Betty and Michael Harden. He was brother to David, Chris and Jeff. He attended Saydel High School and worked in construction. Mike was on the Dean’s list at Kaplan University where he received his Associates of Arts Degree. He was currently working towards his bachelor’s degree with graduation in November. Mike completed the Bridges of Iowa program and planned to work as a counselor for them following his graduation. He was a member of Luther Memorial Church, ABATE, Christian Motorcycle Association and Danish Brotherhood. His joy of hunting and fishing was surpassed only by the love of his nieces and nephews.
Mike is survived by his parents, Mike and Betty Harden; brothers, Dave (Janet) Harden, Chris (Shelly) Harden, and Jeff (Shannon) Harden; nieces and nephews, Dakota, Paige, Cory and Emily; his significant other, Annice Williamson and her son Jacob Schliessman; a host of other family and beloved friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at Luther Memorial Church, 1201 Grandview Ave., Des Moines. The family will greet friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A motorcycle procession will take place from the funeral home to the church, at 11:30 a.m., Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Mike.

Mike made alot of friends over the years and will miss that smiling face. We all have great memories that we will cherish forever. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
