Edward Henderson
April 06, 2014
Ed “Geezer” Henderson, 67, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines.
Ed was born on March 15, 1947 in Lovilia, Iowa to Ernest Henderson and Phyllis (McGinn) Henderson. He graduated from Albia High School in 1965 and Drake University in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. He worked for the Iowa Department of Revenue for 37 years prior to his retirement in 2010.
Ed was a passionate sports fan to say the least. No phone calls would be accepted during St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, Green Bay Packer or Notre Dame football games, or Drake basketball games. He saw 3 World Series games, a game at Lambeau Field, several Notre Dame games in South Bend, and was a Drake season ticket holder for over 30 years. His other passion was playing Euchre with his family and Tuesday night buddies.
Ed is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dianne (Waechter) Henderson; his daughters, Susan Henderson of Clive and Beth Henderson of West Des Moines; his sisters, Rita Henderson and DeDe Paris of Altoona, Peggy Graham and Jackie (Troy) Underwood of Albia; his in-laws, John and Leigh Waechter, Janet and Steve Heisdorffer, Jim and Stacy Waechter, Terry Waechter, and Cathy and Joe Clawson; numerous nieces and nephews; the light of his life, grandson, Dacs. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; and brother, Tommy Joe.
Ed’s favorite Irish saying was “May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you’re dead.” Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Eddie Guy and I worked together in the Hoover Building. I worked in DAS and we would frequently see each other on the elevator.
We had many chuckles about LIFE. He did have an awesome sense of humor and I was always amused by his wit. Thinking of him after our retirement and wondering how he was doing. My condolences to his family - Rita, Peggy and DeDe were Albia friends. Eddie will be smiling all the way to heaven.

Eddie Guy was a friend to many in Revenue.
There were many bets made, quips spoken, and practical jokes played.
They are folklore of the halls now, but he lives on in our fondest of memories.
Two quick quips come to my mind that were part of some lunch time follies
He was the Thrilla from Lovilia and Wed be speaking Russian if it wasnt for him.
We miss ya buddy
May the word of God provide your family strength, comfort, and peace.

Eddie Guy's orneriness, sense of humor, and baseball acumen will be sorely missed. It's impossible to think of Eduardo and not smile or laugh, which is about as good a legacy as you can hope to leave behind. Thinking of you - Condolences.
