Guy Bailey

Guy Bailey, 81, passed away on April 3, 2014 at his home north of Mitchellville. He was born near his current residence as the 7th of 13 children born to Lloyd and Hazel (Cakebread) Bailey on January 25, 1933.
Guy was a farmer all of his life and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in Co. A of the 802nd Engineer Aviation Battalion with time stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a life long member of the Santiago United Methodist Church, a Franklin Township Trustee, a Life member of the National Rifle Association and the American Legion, and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and traveling with his wife Rosie across Iowa and the United States, including their annual trip to Branson, Missouri.
Guy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary (Northway), 3 sons, Clint (Lori) Bailey, Kim (Karen) Bailey, and Kurt Bailey; 4 grandchildren, Carrie (Zach) Boyer, Marc (Betsy) Bailey, Megan Bailey, and Erin Bailey; 4 great grandchildren, Landon Boyer, Micah Bailey, Callen Boyer, and Layla Bailey; 3 brothers Kenneth, Jack, and Cliff; 3 sisters, Garnet Dennis, Ramona Hale, and Kathy Myers.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior, Harold, Chet, Roger, and Gaynard, and his sister June Bailey.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at Bondurant Federated Church, 103 2nd Street SW. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the church, with interment to follow at the Franklin Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint at Home Hospice Care of Des Moines in loving memory of Guy.
