April 01, 2014
Christine Woods, 42, of Des Moines passed away April 1, 2014 at Taylor Hospice House from complications of Leukemia.
Chris was born July 7, 1971 in Des Moines to Jim and Patricia Daughenbaugh, the 5th of eight children. She was known as the peacemaker of the family. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1989. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue.

Praying the Lord will hold you all close and comfort you. Chris was such a joy to visit with. It was a real blessing for me to pray with her during her stay at UNMC. The sisters and I are praying for the entire family and asking Our Lady of Sorrows to be very close to all of you during this difficult time. God's love and peace be with you!

I worked with Chris for several years at UnityPoint. What I will always remember the most is that she was truly a wonderful person! She had a positive affect on everybody she came to know. And she had such a strong love for her family, especially her cherished daughters! We all knew that they were Chris's life and love! She was the kind of mom that all moms strive to be like! Though our hearts ache for our loss...I know that she'll never be gone in spirit!

My thoughts and prayers to Chris' family and close friends. I didn't know her personally - but know many in the family and extended family. I pray the Lord comforts you in knowing she's in His presence and in the company of your other loved ones who have passed. I'm sure she's among the angels singing beautiful songs now.
