Ginger Flanders, 70, was born February 10, 1944, in Iowa City, the daughter of Melvin and Elizabeth Flanders. She passed away March 30, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Ginger is survived by her children, Chris Erickson; Betty (Brian Erickson) Helland, Terri McClelland, Kathy (Steve) Jackson; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin (Karen) Flanders and Marvin Flanders; sister, Marlene Zenor, sister-in-law, Joyce Flanders. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Flanders; and daughter-in-law, Bernadette Erickson.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. The family will greet friends Friday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Hi, Betty! Linda ran into your friend, Deb, at the gym and Deb told her that your mom had passed. I just wanted to let you know I am sorry and that I am thinking of you. I lost my mom 4 years ago on April 22. Your life is very different and never the same after you lose your mom. I'm so sad to loose my friend and best neighbor, I loved Ginger like a sister. I just want all of the.family know how kind she was. Some of the best memories, are of the kids being at her house, mostly.playing Baseball. I hope and PRAY THAT GOD GIVES YOU COMFORT.
