Ferne Johnson Ades, 81, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Indianola, Iowa.
Ferne was born June 2, 1932 in Gordon, Nebraska to Casper and Lucy (Newman) Johnson. She married Thomas Ades, and together they had three sons. Ferne worked as a bookkeeper for Ozzie’s Aquatic Aquarium before she retired in 1992. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Ferne is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas; sons Brian (Patti) and Craig; two brothers: eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; five brothers; and her son, Alan.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by burial at Avon Cemetery.

As Keith and Kaye's oldest son, I recall many good times you had with them as I was a child. Even after they left Iowa, they valued your friendship and continued to reminisce and stay in touch. Our sympathy and thoughts are with your family.
