Robert "Bob" Cain
March 26, 2014
Robert “Bob” Cain, 66, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at HCI Care Services Kavanagh House.
Bob was born November 9, 1947 in Des Moines to William and Doris (Lamb) Cain. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1965. Bob began working at Central Iowa Grain Inspection, (formerly known as Des Moines Grain Exchange), at the age of 17 and retired 48 years later as a manager. He was a man of few words, but when he got to know you he became your best friend. He was an avid golfer at Willow Creek Golf Course. He also enjoyed fishing and being outside in the sun. He had a great interest in muscle cars and owned several throughout his life. He treasured his family and looked forward to their annual family vacations. Bob especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and supporting them in their activities.
Bob is survived by Judy, his loving wife of 45 years; children, Tammy (Jamie) Clark and Tim (Melody) Cain; brother, Mark (Coleen) Cain; sister, Barb (Dave) Williams; grandchildren, Ethan James, Benjamin Cain and William Robert Clark; nieces and nephews; a host of extended family and loving friends; and his cat, Daisy.
The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa or the family.

We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. Although we never met him in person, we feel like we came to know him through David Williams' updates and anecdotes about him over the years. He sounds like a wonderful person who fought hard to enjoy his life on his own terms. We wish you peace and healing at the end of his earthly journey and joy in his release from suffering.

Dave/Barb & Family,
While we never were privileged to meet Bob in person, his legacy made it all the way to Texas. We know this is a very difficult time with the loss of special person - what can't be lost is knowing the over flowing amounts of love, thoughts and prayers there for you. Please let us know if we can do anything for you and the family.
