Shirley Vanderah Adamson, 81, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1932 in Marshall County, Iowa to Earl and Amelia Polley.

Shirley was very thoughtful. She always remembered everyone’s birthdays and sent cards to her friends and family when they were sick to let them know she was thinking of them. Shirley worked to stay busy, most recently as a stocker at Dollar General. She loved to cook and bake and get her family together. She enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and working in her flower garden. Shirley was great at crafts, she especially enjoyed seashell crafts, sewing and collecting shells. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandkids.

Shirley is survived by her children, Carol (Pat) Clemons, Clair (Mona) Vanderah and Chris (Ed) Ackley; step-children, Wayne (Pat) Adamson, Wendell (Bev) Adamson, Danny (Diane) Adamson and Wendy (Walt) Scharlau; brother, Frank (Norma) Polley; sister, Edith Cockrell; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clair Vanderah, Sr.; second husband, Oliver Adamson; son, Charley Stringham, Jr.; brothers, Vic, Al and Rich Polley; and her step-son, Charles Adamson.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A graveside Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Haverhill, Iowa.
