Service Details
Edna Riley, 100, was born September 3, 1913 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Frank and Mollie Whittaker. She passed away March 18, 2014 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa.
Edna was a cook for the Saydel School District, retiring after 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of Saylorville Church in Des Moines and enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing cards.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Beverley Fontanini of Johnston; her son, William (Donna) Riley of Milbourne Beach, FL; 6 granchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Harry Whittaker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Bishop Drumm or Saylorville Church in loving memory of Edna.

This is Louise Sack's daughter, Joyce - and I wish to send my heartfelt thoughts about Edna's passing. I have sooo many memories of her times with my mother. I also recall so many times when all of you were so kind to my mother. You certainly will be in my thoughts for the funeral today. I already had plane tickets to leave town this morning, but will be thinking of all of you at this time.
I wish I could be there with you.
