Marion “Red” Ellis Horn was born February 12, 1944 in Yakama, WA to William and Jeanette (Shelder) Horn. He was a self employed truck driver and was on the road most of the time. His favorite things to haul were big boats. He loved the open road whether it was behind the wheel of his truck or on his Harley. But home is where the heart is, and Red returned home to his family, and on Friday, March 14, 2014, Red passed away at the age of 70. He was a loving brother and will be greatly missed.

Marion is survived by his sisters, Rose (Francis) Lester and Betty (Van) Fields; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved dog and riding companion, Cruiser; and many loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Kathy Hussman, Billy Horn, Frank Horn, and Nancy Horn; and dear friend and adopted brother, Vern Brooks.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
