Marion “Red” Ellis Horn was born February 12, 1944 in Yakama, WA to William and Jeanette (Shelder) Horn. He was a self employed truck driver and was on the road most of the time. His favorite things to haul were big boats. He loved the open road whether it was behind the wheel of his truck or on his Harley. But home is where the heart is, and Red returned home to his family, and on Friday, March 14, 2014, Red passed away at the age of 70. He was a loving brother and will be greatly missed.
Marion is survived by his sisters, Rose (Francis) Lester and Betty (Van) Fields; numerous nieces and nephews; his beloved dog and riding companion, Cruiser; and many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Kathy Hussman, Billy Horn, Frank Horn, and Nancy Horn; and dear friend and adopted brother, Vern Brooks.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Taylor House Hospice in memory of Red.

Uncle Red would call to warn us when he was coming to town, and he'd say "you know what ya gotta do, so get it done!" So off to the store I would go to get what I needed. We would make his favorite, hot italian sausage sandwiches. We would get his favorite ice cream and soda, then get his spot on the couch ready with the tv control right there in reach, and the channel set to wrestling. Let's just say when Uncle Red came to town he was king of the castle. We spoiled him and loved him as much as we could, because we never knew when the next trip would be. I'd listen to him and Dad and Mom talk about the same old stories; you know the ones you've heard over a hundred times and you remember them word for word. Yet they would laugh and carry on as if it was the first time they were being told. Then he'd fall asleep with Cruiser by his side. We would take him back to his truck, and back on the road he would go.
Uncle Red, you've traded in these old highways for roads that are paved with gold, and now you have a much lighter load. Know that we will ALWAYS love you, and you will live on in our hearts forever.

You will forever be in my heart.I will meet up at the truck stop in Heaven someday. Gary says that You will never be forgotten. We loved you for what you stood for( The Eagle was your symbol Forever Freedom)
