Steven Craig Kadner, 63, passed away on Monday March 10, 2014 at Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, of a heart attack. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday March 17, 2014 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Luncheon will follow at Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny, 1924 3rd Street Ankeny.

Steve was the son of Anton and Maxine Kadner. He was born September 10, 1950 in Marshalltown, Iowa. Steven lived most of his life in Des Moines and was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School. After high school, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Marilyn Sackett in 1972 and together they had two daughters, Stacy and Tammra. He was married to Robin Spidle-Kadner from 1988-2013. During their marriage they had their dogs: Max, Chip, Bandit, and Nova.

Steve was employed by 3E (Electrical Engineering and Equipment) for 42 year before he retired in 2012. After retirement, he worked part-time for Enterprise Rental. He was an avoid sports fan and loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, as well as Nascar. He had a second home at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri where he loved being on the water, boating and swimming. His hobbies included traveling, bowling, and camping. His life was dedicated to helping others when he could. He has been involved with Salvation Army Red Kettle, preparing and serving meals for those in need, Toys for Tots, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters program.

Left behind to celebrate his life are his daughters, Stacy Johnston (Jon) and Tammra Swartwood (Brian); his grandsons, Travis and Joel Johnston; his brother, Dennis (Gladys) Kadner; nephews, nieces, and his dog, Dutch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Maxine Kadner; and a brother, Ron Kadner of Georgia.

Visitation will be Sunday March 16, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
