Kay Anne Modde, 53, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 11, 2014. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 12 noon at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with burial to follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla, IA. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. also at Hamilton’s.
Kay was born in Jefferson, IA to Ardith (Teagarden) and Burke Snook on September 15, 1960. She graduated from UNI and became a CPA. Kay was a gifted leader and mentor in her personal and professional life. She had a way of bringing people together. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed the outdoors, reading, and helping others. Kay was also a devoted baseball fan.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 14 years, Dennis Modde; her children, Joe (Lia), Josh Modde, Erin (Clint) Wilcox; grandchildren, Adley, Collin, Makayla and Makenna; her siblings, Joann Faber, Tim (Mary Jane) Snook, Dennis (Pauline) Snook, Jim (Barb) Snook, Bill (Kim) Snook, Arlene (Jim) Holmes; and many loving friends that she considered family. Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Des Moines Public Library in honor of Kay. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Dennis I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you all. She was great step mother to our kids. I could not of ask for better. Kay will be missed by many. I am so sorry.

I had the pleasure of meeting Kay when she worked at Des Moines Water Works. She was a beautiful person inside and outside. After I was diagnosed with breast cancer, she was my inspiration. You have my sympathy.
