Service Details

Betty Jean Breese became the only child of Howard and Pauline Breese on May 17, 1926. Jean and Jack were joined in marriage in 1948 after Jack’s duty in the South Pacific. They were blessed with a son and daughter, Jeffrey and Deborah Joy; and Deborah’s gift of two children, Robert and Nichole Allen; and great-grandchildren.

One could not have a more loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother than Jean. Her passion was her family, and her love of music, art and performance utilizing a beautiful singing voice enjoyed by all who heard her. For those of us old enough to remember WHO’s Barn Dance Frolic, Jean was featured in a singing group known as “Billie Jan’s and the Happy Chappies,” leading to a lifetime of song. She was a beautiful and stylish lady with a dominant presence. Everyone loved her.

Jean suffered the loss of her mother and father, and infant daughter, Pamila; and her four legged children, Muggins, Buffy, Toto, Sparky and others.

A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Dearest, for every move I make and every breath I take, you are in my heart and will always be. Thank you for 66 glorious years together- but I wanted more! I love you, Jack.
