Toni Lowry of Altoona passed away after a lengthy illness Friday, March 7, at UnityPoint Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, surrounded by her family.
Toni was born August 22, 1951 to James and Jeanne Purdue of Runnells. She graduated from South East Polk High School. Though confined to her home in later years, Toni was and avid fan of NASCAR and the NBA.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Lonnie) Huffaker of Newton; Grandchildren Alexa, Paige, and Hunter Huffaker; Sisters, Patricia (Richard) Dykstra of Iowa City, and Cindi (Kevin) Crady of Newton.
Toni is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers Randy and Terry.
At Toni’s request there will be no formal services planned, but rather a family graveside get together at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells.

I never met Toni, however I talked to her often. She'd call the Walgreens I work at so I could gather the list of items she wanted so an aide or neighbor could come pick it up. Usually included Arizona Sweet Tea! She was a very sweet lady. RIP, Toni!

Pat, I am so sorry to hear about the death of Toni. I did not realize that she had gone to Hospice. I sold Avon to her for several years, she was a very nice lady and I will miss her. I never met Toni's daughter but I heard a lot of nice stories about her family.

Thanks for sharing Tony with me all these years. I'll never forget all the laughter we shared, and when I called her from a Nascar race. She turned the sound down on her TV so she could hear from our phones the starting roar of the engines. I believe Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Daytona just for her. What a wonderful friend she was and I'll miss her dearly. Sending my deepest sympathy, Bobbie
