Frances Louise Jones was born April 9, 1928 in Des Moines to John and Florence (Cawley) Jones. She passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014.
Frances cherished her family and played a very active role in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a crusader in her time, improving public health services. Frances retired from the State of Iowa as the Assistant Director of Public Health. She loved to travel and enjoyed bowling. Frances was an avid Iowa Bruins baseball fan, never missing a home game.
Frances is survived by her sister, Mary Tew; nephew, John (Angel) Tew; niece, Sue (Todd) Tew-Warming; great-nephew, Greg Tew; great-nieces, Heather (Buck) Tew and Stephanie (Brad) Archer; several great-great-nephews and nieces; special friends, Edra Tew and Grace Tew; a host of extended family and many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lela, Albert, Nellie and Darlene Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the service.

I would like to extend my sympathies to Fran's family. When I worked for the Ringgold County Public Health Nurses from '75-'81, she was a frequent visitor to our office. My name was Dugan then. I was surprised to be called for District Jury Duty a few years later and so was Fran. We had a good chat that day waiting to be interviewed. I remember her as a very nice lady. Blessing to you all.
