Lynn Young, 64, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Lynn was born June 10, 1949 in Des Moines. She graduated from Lincoln High School and was a true “southsider”. Lynn loved to read. She worked for 20+ years as a mail sorter at Deluxe Check Printers. Lynn always put others before herself. More than anything though she loved her children and especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Lynn is survived by her children, Jennifer (Kelly Osborn) Young and Michael (Erika) Young; grandchildren, Brooke Young, Jack Osborn and Shay Wile; great-grandson, Max Young; mother, Phyllis Nagel; siblings, Sue Balducci, Jane (Curt) Brookhart and Mark (Renee) Nagel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Boyd Nagel.
Per her wishes, cremation will occur and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

To Lynn's kids, I just want to tell you that I have you in my heart. I am so sorry to hear about your mom's death.
I went to school with your mom and had always enjoyed her and her wonderful sense of humor so much. We had just gotten in touch again one year ago, through phone calls and e-mails. She was so in love with you and her grands. I could tell when she spoke of you, that you'd made her life so very full of fun and love. She loved and was loved much and well, by her own account. I'm so happy I had the chance to reconnect with her, and my only regret is that we put off the planning of our in person catch up lunch and gab fest day in Des Moines .... Always the next time I came to town. Hoping you find some comfort in the words of this stranger.....please know she loved you all so much and with her whole big heart. Praying you peace,

It still is hard to believe that you are gone. No words can explain how my heart aches, no matter how many times I say I'm ok. Or how many times we hear or say your in a better place. Your place was here with me. I know you would not want many tears shed but it's so hard to carry on. I will try to smile as your memory is carried on. God made a wonderful mother and he gave that dear mother to me. All that I am I owe to my mother.
Mama thanks for always being there for me and loving me. You are truly missed by Kelly, myself, Brooke, Jack and Max. I hope to see you in my dreams.

Phyllis, Jenifer and Michael..Oh ..this breaks my heart..I talked to her but could not pry her from a book or the grandkids..even tried to bait her with fried chicken..I loved Boyd too..She and Boyd can take heaven by storm..Oh my how she loved her siblings too..but those grandkids..that was her real joy..its sooo easy to spoil them rotten..then send them home..and speaking of home..she loved her house..just "being" in the country..call me if I can help you with anything Jenifer..she loves you so..she worried about her mother..as do we all..but then she could giggle it off..oh that laugh we all loved..

I cant even begin to tell everyone what lynn was to me...
I was the young one who growing up got in her way... tattled on her and sue all the time then paid for it latter...haha she loved her kids to the moon and back.. worshiped her grandkids brooke and jack even more... then came max who stole her heart.. she loved beyond the moon her family.. she will forever be in our hearts and thoughts as we all move forward she wanted no fuss and she got it. she is in a better place and is free of pain.. and to that iam at peace also knowing I will see her again. I love you sister give dad a big hug for me.

Jen+family, I am truly sorry for your loss. There aren't ever any magic words to make it better. I know she was a huge part of your daily lives and put up with my Matthew as much as u all have. I wish I could have thanked her for letting him tag along for all the 4-wheeling & other activities. It was easy to tell how much she loved and was loved by all that knew her. If there's anything else I can do to help, let us know. I'm glad we're neighbors!! You seem to have done a great job respecting her wishes. She will live on in all the 'Gramma Lynn' stories you'll get to tell Max. :'-) My thoughts and prayers still with u. <3

Phyllis, Jane, Jennifer & Michael - Where do I start!! I still can't believe this has happened - my heart breaks for all of you and they have truly gained an angel in heaven to watch over us!! Hugs, kisses, and prayers to all of Lynnerd's family!! (She was Lynnerd to me and the queen of cheeseball - I will think of her every time I make it!!)

Though the voice is quiet, the spirit echoes still.
Even in the sadness of losing Lynn, there will be comfort in remembering her. There will be gratitude for all that she was and always will be to those of us who remain. Each life is infinitely precious and we are all richer for having been touched by Lynn.
The heart remembers most what it has loved the best.

Phyllis, Jane and family Were so sorry that you lost Lynn. Shes an angel now, free of pain and will be doing her good deeds in heaven. I would like to share one of my remembrances of Lynn. Lynn was part of the Deluxe reunion committee which all of us enjoyed working on. What a great buildup it was for us! It reminded us why we are still the Deluxe family.
I would also like to share this Native American Prayer I give you this one thought to keep, I am with you still I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the Autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone, I am with you still in each new dawn.

There will always be that empty place in your family and in your hearts when you lose someone as special as Lynn. But you have all your memories to look back on. I'm so sorry for your loss! Prayers for your family and especially for you Jane.

Phyllis, Jane & family. I am so sorry for your loss of such a very good hearted person.
I had been thinking about when I talked on the phone to Lynn a few months ago, I had been trying to find her phone no. or Janes but to no avail. I seem to have the habit of putting them on a piece of paper that someone throws away. Then I am at a loss.
Lynn was so pleasant to talk with & assured me that at anytime I wanted to talk about her mom to feel free to call her. Again, so gracious.
We will have alot of memories that we can turn back to from time to time with & about her.
Take good care of yourselves & all the rest of the family.
Thoughts & prayers are with you yet.
