Patricia A. Tapps

Patricia Ann Tapps (née Barkmeier) passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines. Patricia was born December 14, 1931 to William and Dorothy Barkmeier.

Patricia (often called Patsy) enjoyed a lively conversation, collecting antiques, and tending to her family home in Rockwell City. One could say she was passionate about her beliefs and will be remembered for this in particular.

Patsy is survived by her brother, Aryls (LaVon) Barkmeier of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three daughters: Cindy (Steve) Zahnd of Melbourne, Iowa, Debbie Tapps of Rockwell City, and Nancy (Maury) Leysens of Johnston, Iowa. Patsy is also survived by two grandchildren, Isabelle Leysens of Ames, Iowa and Perry Leysens, of Durango, Colorado. In addition, she leaves behind nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 1975; her parents, Dorothy and William Barkmeier; brother, Keith Barkmeier; and sister, Kathy Barkmeier Hendricks.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial of the cremated remains at Rosehill Cemetery in Rockwell City, Iowa.
