William Leroy Butts, 59, passed away February 27, 2014 in Des Moines. He was born August 1, 1954 in Des Moines to Emma and Emmett Butts. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army Reserves.
William was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and will be remembered for his love of cooking, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family.
He will be truly missed by his wife, Linda Butts; daughter, TaMickia Vaughan; grandson, Le-Roy Banks; brother, Alfred (Jennifer) Butts; sister, Barbara Johnson; mother-in-law, Shirley Talbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Truman, Sharon, Darlene Caldwell, and Robert.
William’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Methodist Hospital, Powell 3rd Floor for their wonderful and devoted care of William.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in loving memory of William.

I am very sorry to hear of Billy's passing! I too knew him from Wellmark and I miss hearing him laugh and I miss singing a little greeting to him and having him sing one back! He was very much appreciated and will be very missed here! My condolences to your family.

Sincere smiles. Happy laughter. Kindness. Concern and caring. Genuine. Engaging. Personable. Dedicated and devoted.
Those are some of the things I think of when I think of Billy. I'm fairly certain that he never met a stranger. He was a wonderful addition to our work family here at Wellmark and he has been missed, I'm sorry for the loss of your father and husband, the world has lost a very giving soul.

Billy is missed. He was always smiling and happy to see me. I was just as happy to see him. His smile could brighten anyones day. The Wellmark Market will not be the same. Sorry for your loss.

Billy always made us smile and laugh at Wellmark. He was just a great person, a heart of gold and kind word to everyone. Loved it when he would sing to us on our afternoon break. May God Bless him and your family.

I am William/Billy's daughter. I may or may not of gotten the pleasure of meeting some of you. But i do remember hearing alot of your names when he would tell me how his day was. I want to thank everyone who leaves their condolences for my dad's passing. And for all of your prayers! Me & my mother truly appeared all of you! :-)
