Betty Gilmore

Betty Lou Gilmore, 89 of Des Moines, died peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at The Taylor House in Des Moines. She was born July 9, 1924 in Centerville, Iowa

Through the years Betty enjoyed bowling and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s many many activities. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother whose family always came first.

She is survived by her sons, Rick of Van Meter and Rusty of Des Moines; granddaughters, Patty, Melissa, Tracy, Kassady, Heather, Rachel and Lana; grandsons, Robert, John and Alex; along with 20 great grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James; brother, Billy; and son, Robert.

Friends may visit with family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Memorial Service will be held, 1 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery.
