Cindy Cockerham

Cindy Lee Cockerham, 52, was born June 8, 1961, in Harlan, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Sherry (Berry) Hansen. She passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House in Des Moines.

Cindy attended school at Harlan and graduated from Harlan High School in 1980. She attended DMACC for 2 years where she studied design. Cindy was a quality assurance supervisor at Marzetti’s Frozen Pasta where she worked for 23 years. Her family at Marzetti’s was very important to her. She was a member of Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church in Altoona.

Cindy married Steve Cockerham March 16, 2002. Cindy and her husband Steve loved riding their motorcycles and going on trips. She was a loving and devoted mother. Helping at her children’s activities, baking, going out for dinner, volunteering her services to several projects that were dear to her heart. She loved visiting the Mississippi River and roaming through all the shops. The farm girl in Cindy never left her and she enjoyed going to the farmers market.

Cindy is survived by her loving husband, Steve; children, Kelsey (Brad) Burrows, Anthony (Courtney) Burrows, Stephanie (Terry) Sparks, Kristy (Jay) Cockerham, Kellsey Cockerham; sisters, Deb (Kevin) Harris, Betty Hansen, Darli Jo (Bob) Vrba; brother, Jim (Angie) Hansen; grandchildren,Wyatt, Samantha, Emilie, Jamisen, Abbi, Jaiden, Drake; her parents, Jerry and Sherry and other relatives and many dear friends.

Services will take place at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue S. in Altoona, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be at the church from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
