Cynthia Louise Allingham was born in Des Moines May 24, 1953, the daughter of Ira and Vona (Young) Curtis. She passed away February 24, 2014 at Unity Point Health Des Moines Methodist.
Cynthia graduated from East High School in 1971. She married Richard Allingham on December 28, 1974. Cynthia was very dedicated to her family and very proud of her daughters and nine grandsons.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Wendy (Scott) Berg, Kristen (Lance) Rhodes and Jodi (John) Borne; grandsons, Calen, Carsen, Tyler, Grant, Cody, Richard, Carter and Robert; great-grandson, Paxton; father, Ira Curtis; brother, Bill (Cindee) Curtis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vona; daughter, Kelly Jo; and her brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

I wish to express my condolences to Cynthia's family. Though I didn't know Cynthia personally, I have had the great privilege of working with her daughter, Kristen, and because of this association, I can say that Cynthia has been a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She has truly blessed this world with a great legacy. She will be missed now, but the meeting in the hear-after will be a joyous occasion.

I worked with Cindy for 5 years. Our interactions usually involved me looking for something and she gave me 2 things every time, sincere effort to help me, and a smile. I never walked away from Cindy feeling bad. Wonderful, positive spirit. She will be missed here, but spreading joy in Heaven. My condolences to her family and loved ones.

The thing I remember most about Cindy was her beautiful smile! Her ability to find the good in all of us. I loved the way she loved and took care of my brother. She is the best thing that ever happened to him. I loved Cindy and will surely miss her. I pray the Lords choices blessings will be with Michael and the girls as they go through this trial in their lives. Love you all!??

Mom, I miss you so very much and the thought of my life without you in it is very difficult to fathom. You were truly a special woman who taught me so much about life and helped shape me into the woman that I am today. You will FOREVER be present in my heart and memory and that of my sons.
