Phyllis Brodie

Phyllis J. Brodie, 74, passed on to eternal life peacefully surrounded by her family at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 2:10 p.m. At the time of her passing, Phyllis was being serenaded by the voices of the hospice nurse angels and her family, while they were holding her hands and singing Amazing Grace.

Phyllis was born April 26, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Joseph and Betty (Cebuhar) Leto. She is survived by her husband, John W. Brodie; daughters, Theresa (Jim) Sullivan and Suzanne (Marc) Tjaden; brothers, Raymond, Robert, and Ronald Leto; grandchildren, Brodie, Jesse, Tara, and Alexandrea; and many extended relatives and friends.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with a 4:00 p.m. rosary and 7:00 p.m. uniquely personal memorial time of sharing. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue, Des Moines. Following the funeral, interment will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
