Anna E. DeWild Manning, 74, passed away peacefully Friday, February 21, 2014, at Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines.
Anna was born in Pella, Iowa, October 14, 1939, the daughter of Gerrit and Pauline A. DeWild. Growing up she enjoyed swimming and during the summer months, she and her siblings worked as lifeguards. In past years, Anna loved gardening and playing BINGO. More recently, she enjoyed reading and following family and friends on Facebook. Anna’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and she maintained her wit and sense of humor to the very end.
Anna is survived by her children, Mel Manning, Michael (Marion Lehman) Manning Sr., Paula (Joel) VanRoekel, and Charlie (April) Manning; grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Carolyn), Crystal, Alex, and Levi; great-grandchildren, Grace, Noah, and Izzy; siblings, Margo, Gene, and Kenny; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith; son, Gerald; siblings, Chuck and Donna; and grandson, Jake.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, followed by burial at Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice or Fountain West Care Center.

Hi I was one her home care aides, Anna and I had a very special bond and I will never forget her. She was a great lady and everyday I went to see her she always had a smile on her face and would tell me a joke that her son Mike would tell her and I will never forget the time she put toy mice under her pillows and I was makin her bed and Anna was in the library making mice noises and I screamed when I saw the mice and she was laughing her ass off. God im going miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Luv ya Anna

I feel blessed to have known Anna and to have been able to assist with her healthcare in her home. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. It has been a privilege to get to know her and her family, especially Mike and Paula. I always enjoyed her showing me pictures of all of the great grandkids and hearing stories about them.She will be missed and I will think of her often. She was a very special lady.
