Service Details

Vicki Scharf, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away on February 20th at the age of 53. Vicki was born on July 4, 1960 in Des Moines to Robert and Kathleen (O’Donnell) Jackson.

Following college graduation, Vicki worked several years for CDS as an Executive Manager until she turned her attention to her children. Vicki worked in the Sacred Heart cafeteria, school office and coached both girls and boys track. Vicki was at school just as much as her children. She made a commitment to the Catholic Worker House and served as a volunteer for several years. Vicki had a great sense of humor and her laughter will be missed by those who loved her.

She was actively involved in family matters and she shared her creativity and sensitivity with everyone around her. We were blessed to see her creativity this past Valentine’s Day through the many gifts she made by hand. Vicki did not take greatness for herself but instead prayed for the happiness and success of her children and those around her.

She reunites in heaven with her brother Patrick. Vicki is survived by her husband, David Scharf; daughter, Kayli; sons, Justin and Jared; parents, Robert and Kathleen Jackson; sisters, Lori (Curt) McCormick, Michele (Mark) Brown, Susan Stewart and Kris (Chris) Markham; brothers, Rob (Moe) Jackson, Tim Jackson and Nick Jackson; sister-in-law, Jodie Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with the Rosary recited at 7:30p.m.
