Fredrick Loveridge, 77, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
Fred was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 18, 1936 to Thomas C. and Vilah Loveridge. Fred was a graduate of Johnston High School.
Fred worked for Western Electric (AT&T) for 26 years before retiring. He then went on to drive for the Des Moines Metro Transit for six years. Fred was a long time member of the Central Iowa Garden Railway Society. Fred’s passion was building H-O trains and was exceedingly proud of the rail landscape he’d lovingly crafted in his backyard that enthusiasts of all ages would travel to see. He was active in attending the Renaissance Faire at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park as well as participating in Civil War re-enactments.
From his first marriage to Judy, Fred is survived by his sons; Fred and Edward, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. From his second marriage to Loretta, Fred is survived by his son Benjamin and daughters Amy Dall (Loveridge) and Jennifer, and three stepsons; Don, Kelly and Andrew Carter. He is also survived by his son Bret Tyler and daughters, Ilana Tyler, Kaity Neu along with six grandchildren from his third marriage to Kathy.
Fred is preceded by his parents and two brothers; Ted and Harry Loveridge.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
