Jeff “Bubba” Dyer was born October 17, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa to Edward and Colleen (Bryant) Dyer. He passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center at the age of 56.

There will be a celebration of Bubba’s life from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.

Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Terri Schmacker; his loyal, faithful cocker spaniel, Lucy; his siblings: Troy (Mary), Barbie, Eddie, and Diana (Scott); his in-laws, Bob and Carol; sisters-in-law, Sherri (Rod) and Bobbi; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Colleen Dyer and his oldest brother, Rick.

Bubba was an extremely hard worker his whole life until he was sidelined by disability. He was a lifetime Union Roofer and worked as a sheet metal and neon sign fabricator in Las Vegas, NV until 1999.

Bubba will forever be remembered as “the gentle giant”. He was a good friend to all who knew him. He loved spending time with his family, friends and bar mates at Michelle’s & Stan’s; he bartended for a brief time. Bubba enjoyed blues music and his Sunday Breakfast Club. He was a Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR fan. He liked gardening and making birdhouses; he had his own “Bubba’s Birdhouse” business. You could often find him hanging out in his man cave with his faithful dog, Lucy.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Bubba.
