Service Details
Eugene Ball, 80, was born January 6, 1934 in Ludington, Michigan, the son of Leroy and Winifred Ball. He went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
Gene served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1957. He was a Printer at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota, as well as Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa. Gene enjoyed golfing in his spare time.
He was an active and faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Grimes, Iowa. Gene’s greatest passion was his faith in God and service to his Lord.
Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; his daughter, Cindy (Dean) Yinger of Greer, South Carolina; and his grandchildren, Brad Yinger and Alesia Yinger, also of South Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John and DuWayne; as well as his sister, Jayne.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 877 SE 19th Street in Grimes, with burial to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Faith Baptist Bible College or Maranatha Baptist Church in loving memory of Eugene.

We have so many good memories of Gene; his love for studying God's Word; his work with the youth group and his encouragement in the work of the Lord. But the best is yet to come for Gene and for all who love our Lord, when we meet together in His presence at the sound of the trumpet. This is the blessed hope and joy of the Lord in this time of deepest sorrow. We're praying for all of you.

Gene was a dear friend and Christian brother. His heart was overflowing with the Word of God which he had treasured up. His conversation was laced with quotations from Scripture and encouragement to live wholly for Christ. My life was enriched by Gene's friendship.

Dorothy and Cindy: May the Lord comfort your hearts as you cling to Him! What a day that will be when we are all gathered together in His presence together! Gene has had a profound influence in my life to follow the Lord! I love you both!
