Gerald "Bill" Alexander

Gerald “Bill” Alexander, 89, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at UnityPoint Health Des Moines Methodist.

Bill was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Frank and Gwendolyn (Jones) Alexander on February 27, 1924. He served in the US Army during World War II. Bill worked for LaVere Braucht Floral Shop for 22 years. He also served as custodian at Hoover High School and Central Campus for 20 years before retiring.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Laura Mae, half-brother, Mike Alexander, and his nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
