Huong Thi Cao-Luong

Huong Thi Cao was born November 8, 1925 in Can Tho, Vietnam, to Chanh Van Cao and Sao Thi Ma. She had lived in Janesville, WI since 1975 and moved to Des Moines in 1994. She was married to Hung Van Luong for 54 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 children and husband.

Huong loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, palm reading, and playing Bai Tu Sac (Chinese card game).

Huong, 88, passed away February 12, 2014 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. She was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Survivors include 10 sons Tuoi (Bay Le) of Des Moines; Hung (Donna Hang) of San Jose, CA; Hau, of Arlington, TX; Hao (Ngoc Diep) of Arlington, TX; Dung (Ngoc Anh Hoang) of Fargo, ND; Manh of Pembroke Pines, FL; Hung of Des Moines; Hieu (Hoa Hoang) of Kenner, LA; Nghia (Manh Dan) of Des Moines; Hen (Phuong) of Des Moines; 6 daughters Huong Luong (Te Dam) of Des Moines; Mai Luong (Khanh Le) of Des Moines; Lieu Burkhalter of Janesville, WI; Ann Hite (Kevin) of Newark, OH; Hoang Bui (Chap), of Des Moines; and Thuy Cao (Hung) of Des Moines; 60 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service followed by cremation will be 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.

The family would like to thank the dedicated paramedics, doctors, nurses and staff for their tender care of Huong.
