Marla A. (Rogers) Reece

Marla A. (Rogers) Reece, was born February 3, 1933, in Des Moines, the daughter of Louis and Gladys Rogers. She passed away February 12, 2014, at Taylor House in Des Moines.

Throughout Marla’s career, she worked for the State of Iowa Conservation Commission, Manpower as an Office Manager, and most recently an Assistant Manager of Contract Writing for Principal Financial Group. She enjoyed music, singing, being a 20+ year member of the Principal choir, and gardening. Most of all, Marla adored and was adored by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marla is survived by her husband of 62 years, Daniel; children, Anne (Daniel) Sweeney, Judy (Kerry) Abel, David (Jan) Reece, Michael (Kim) Reece, Thomas (Stacy) Reece; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Yoko) Rogers; sisters, Bonita Petterson and Linda (Wayne) Michael; a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Nancy Poe.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
