Marvin L. Shelton, 68, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014.
Marvin was born February 15, 1945 in Oaks, North Dakota. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at his lake house. Marvin was a gardener and liked working on anything with a motor. He served in the U.S. Army and fought in Vietnam. Marvin owned Shelton Auto in Des Moines for over 35 years.
Marvin is survived by his significant other, Marlene Donaldson; daughters, Margaret and Deborah; step-daughters, Mony and Lee Ann; grandchildren: Dustin, Brandon, and Nicholas; seven step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; dog, Sweetie; and many extended relatives and friends.

As newcomers to our neighborhood, Marv was the nicest next door neighbor you could ask for. He helped us out on a number of occasions, always ready and willing. I will miss driving past him sitting in front of his house waving with Sweetie there with him. Marv was a very dear man, we will miss him. Jim, Cheryl, and Isaac

Marv was my best friend for over 30 years. He had the biggest heart of anyone I know although he liked to keep that to himself. Some of the best times of my life have been just sitting with Marv outside his place up north enjoying nature.
The world will be worse off without Marv - I know I will miss him tremendously.
