Alan Johannsen

Alan Johannsen, 70, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014.

Alan was born December 15, 1943 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Delbert and Lucille (Moore) Johannsen. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was very dedicated to his family. Alan enjoyed gardening - both vegetables and flowers, and bird watching. He had an appreciation of antiques and was very interested in ancestry. Alan worked in the fresh bakery business for over 44 years and was a founding member of the Twin Rivers CB Club. He had an ornery streak, but was truly a warm and friendly person to all.

Alan is survived by his wife, Victoria; children: Joel (Betty), Rhonda (Mike) Miller, Cheryl (Steve) Ball, and Jeff; sister, Marla Grabenbauer; grandchildren: Tabitha, Derek, Alex, Hannah, Breanna, Brandon, Devin, Melissa, and Jeffrey; and great-grandchildren, Austin and Victoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandsons: Justin and DJ Miller and Hunter Ball.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South, Mitchellville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8 with burial at Mitchellville Cemetery.
