Christine Dawn Edwards

Christine Dawn Edwards, 44, was born December 19, 1969, in Des Moines. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, February 4, 2014.Christine worked for the Southeast Polk School District for many years and took great pride in making sure things were done perfectly for the students as well as her co-workers.

Christine had a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone. She enjoyed the outdoors, baking, taking walks, eating chocolate, and having a glass of wine. Christine loved playing BUNCO with her friends, her cats, Buddy, JoJo and Kitty, and being involved with YaYa’s for TaTa’s. Decorating was one of Christine’s talents, she always knew how to put things together and make a welcoming home.

Christine’s greatest passion was being a mom. She adored her daughters and cherished the time she spent with them and supported them in all their activities. One of her biggest joys was getting the girls all dressed up. She loved sparkle and “bling” and many times made costumes and dresses for Hannah and Caitlin.

Christine is survived by her husband, Gregg Edwards; daughters, Caitlin and Hannah Edwards; parents, Gary and Betty Wemer; sister, Angela (Steve) McMurdo and Michelle Wemer; brother, Glenn (Kim) Wemer; parents-in-law, Ron and Jean Edwards; sister-in-law, Amy (Shea) Coogler; brother-in-law, Scott (Crystal) Edwards; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many special friends.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Ave. SW. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8 at the church. Burial will follow at Altoona Cemetery.
