Donald Craig Patton (affectionately known as DC) was born March 27, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Betty and Donald Patton. He was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School, where he played basketball and football. DC continued his pursuit of knowledge at Drake University where he received a BS degree in Science and Technology, and went on for his MBA at Iowa State University.

DC began his professional career with General Mills, where he advanced from field sales to Area Manager. He later joined the team at First Data, in Chicago, IL as a Relationship Manager where he provided expertise and selling solutions to prospective and current merchant and financial institution customers. Motivated by a drive for perfection, DC flawlessly managed merchant accounts and achieved unequaled profit margins.

In his personal life, DC valued “family.” He was a devoted son, and cherished other relatives as if they were his own children, never turning away a sprouting mind, and never forgetting to celebrate an achievement, while continuing to remain the Model; son, nephew, cousin, and friend. Outside of his family, he enjoyed sports, traveling, and maintained a strict fitness routine of running six miles daily.

DC departed this life on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Illinois Masonic Hospital. He leaves behind, his mother, Betty Jean Patton, of Chicago, IL; uncle, Albert Collier (Janice) of Stone Mountain, GA; and cousins; Andra Collier-Clark (Mike), Myles Jones all of Antioch, CA, Brittany Collier, of Chicago, IL, Doyle Dorrean, and Alexandre Collier, of Bay Point, CA, Deborah Irving (Ronald) and Jacqueline Benzie, of St. Louis, MO, Darlene Williams (Mike), John B. Williams of Greensboro, NC and JR Williams (Laronda) of Duncan, SC; along with a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul AME Church, 1201 Day Street in Des Moines, IA. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery following the service.
